Carie Boyd Pharmaceuticals offers a three-ingredient topical hair solution with the ability to support additional add-ins. The base formula contains Minoxidil (5%), Clobetasol (0.05%), and Tretinoin (0.025%). Finasteride or dutasteride may be added at a 0.1% strength. It is available via prescription only and is supplied in a 60 mL container.
Our topical hair solution is available for customization. The base formula contains three standard ingredients, but may be supplemented by a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. The base formula may be chosen by providers treating men and women with hair loss. The addition of finasteride and dutasteride is more commonly considered for men only. This medication is available by prescription only.
Hair appearance is a concern for millions of men and women and this compound is considered by providers nationwide. Minoxidil is a vasodilator commonly considered by providers for scalp health. It is thought to increase blood flow to the scalp, which may support follicular activity and prolong the hair’s natural growth cycle. Clobetasol is a steroidal anti-inflammatory. Tretinoin is thought to potentiate the absorption of minoxidil. It is a versatile medication used in many dermatology applications. It may be included in formulations for acne, aging, keratosis pilaris, skin lightening, rosacea, and hair solutions. Finasteride is generally understood to inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which plays a role in converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for shrinking hair follicles. Dutasteride inhibits both 5-alpha reductase isoenzymes that play a role in converting testosterone to DHT.
Application:
This is for external use only. Dosing, frequency, and duration of application is dependent on provider assessment, based on patient history and response to treatment. Individual results may vary. Pharmacist consultation is available for healthcare providers seeking additional information or guidance on use and formulation options.

Our active pharmaceutical ingredients are sourced from reputable FDA-registered suppliers.

The most commonly reported side effect is mild skin irritation that often resolves in a few weeks. Scalp dryness and flaking is also possible. There may also be an initial shedding phase, but it should be temporary.
Adjunctive Therapy:
If patients are undergoing adjunctive therapies such as hair transplants, microneedling, PRP injections, or are using light therapy caps, providers should speak with our team of pharmacists to discuss timing.
