Office-Use Medication

Testosterone / Anastrozole

Pellets

Testosterone/Anastrozole Pellets are bioidentical hormone implants designed to support patients undergoing bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). Administered subcutaneously, these plant-derived testosterone/anastrozole pellets may provide steady hormone delivery over around 3–6 months. The pellets are available in 2 different strengths. No Rx is required to order.

For qualified providers, Carie Boyd Pharmaceuticals offers implantable subcutaneous testosterone pellets for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). Testosterone is a hormone that plays an important role in the body. Often it is considered in management of congenital or acquired hypogonadism or other conditions that cause testosterone deficiencies. Anastrozole may be considered by providers for patients experiencing hormone imbalance following primary hormone therapy, or for managing menopausal symptoms in breast cancer survivors with estrogen receptor–positive tumors. Potential advantages of pellet usage include the infrequency of dosing, likelihood of compliance, and lack of transference. Testosterone Pellets are available in the following strengths:

  • Testosterone/Anastrozole 100 mg/4 mg
  • Testosterone/Anastrozole 75 mg/4 mg

Testosterone is a hormone that plays an important role in the body. Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. Testosterone/anastrozole pellets are implanted during an office procedure. Absorption may occur through uniform erosion of the pellet’s surface in correspondence to the solubility of the testosterone and anastrozole in extracellular fluid. The release of the pellet may continue over a period of 3 to 6 months. Implantable subcutaneous testosterone pellets have been studied for their support of men and women with hormone-related symptoms. Both men and women receiving hormone therapy need to be monitored for their response to the medication and possible side effects. If a patient chooses to discontinue treatment, the pellets do not need to be removed, they will dissolve.

Features:

  • Route of administration: Implantable subcutaneous pellets may be preferred over creams/injections/oral formulations
  • Mechanism: The release of testosterone/anastrozole from the pellet may support healthy levels in the body for 3 to 6 months
  • Patients: May be considered by providers for men experiencing hormonal imbalance or managing menopausal symptoms in breast cancer survivors with estrogen receptor–positive tumors

Potential Usage:

Typically administered every 3 to 6 months during an in-office procedure. Dosing is dependent on physician assessment, based on patient history and response to treatment. Individual results may vary. Every batch is tested for potency, sterility, and endotoxins. Pharmacist consultation is available for healthcare providers seeking additional information or guidance on use and formulation options.
