BLT cream is one of the most commonly used topical anesthetics by healthcare providers. Commonly used in minor cosmetic procedures, as a pre-injection numbing agent, in laser therapies, and in a wide variety of other applications, our BLT Cream contains three anesthetic ingredients (benzocaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine) that block nerve signals by disrupting ion flow in the nerves.

Our BLT Cream comes in an airless pump container, eliminating much of the mess associated with applying the medication and making storage simple and safe. We offer BLT cream to qualified health care providers.

  • Benzocaine 20% – One of the most prevalent anesthetics used in medicine today. Benzocaine works by inhibiting voltage-dependent sodium channels on neuron membranes. It has a rapid onset and is generally well tolerated by patients, making it popular for a variety of applications.
  • Lidocaine 6% – A commonly used topical anesthetic discovered in the 1940s. Lidocaine works by blocking sodium channels that, when used topically, prohibit local neurons from signaling the brain. Lidocaine has an onset of approximately 4 minutes when applied directly to the skin.
  • Tetracaine 4%– A longer-acting anesthetic that changes the function of ryanodine receptors that control intracellular calcium release. Onset time is typically longer than either Benzocaine or Lidocaine when applied topically.

Our BLT Cream Advantages:

  • Fast absorbing and efficient depot anesthesia effect
  • Convenient and easy to apply multiple-dose airless pump, avoiding waste
  • Quick & reliable delivery, always
  • Room temperature storage

Notes: BLT Cream is primarily purchased for office-use stock, but we can customize the medication for individual needs pursuant to patient-specific prescriptions.

BLT Cream Application Instructions (Do Not Occlude):

  • Clean the area where the topical anesthetic will be applied and pat dry with a towel.
  • If the application site is a large, it may be beneficial to anesthetize the area in sections. This will help reduce systemic absorption and ensure that the skin does not lose numbness prior to performing the procedure in a certain area. In general, it is better to limit the application to an area no larger than the face and use no more than 1g of cream per 10cm application area. If larger areas need to be anesthetized, it may be preferable to divide the treatment into multiple sessions to limit systemic levels of the anesthetic ingredients.
  • Apply the cream 20-30 minutes before the procedure. Using an applicator to apply the cream is ideal to avoid contact with your hands. If manual application is preferred, gloves are highly recommended. Always remember to wear gloves when handling.
  • Check the patient for numbness and side effects. If it is determined the patient is not sufficiently numb, you can leave the cream on for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • Wipe off the cream completely and clean the skin thoroughly. No numbing cream should be left over after the procedure has concluded.
