Carie Boyd’s Prescription Shop opened in Hurst, Texas in 1987 with three goals in mind. First, to provide the community with a complete, full service pharmacy. Second, to offer a high level of service along with health consultation and the latest healthcare products. And third, to assist the segment of the general population that suffers from preventable degenerative diseases.
We saw an increase in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, and strokes, and studies have shown that increases in these problems are largely due to our western diet, environment and nutritional deficiencies.
This knowledge prompted us to change the focus of our business. Today, we work closely with physicians and patients, and give educational seminars to help people maintain their health through improved nutrition, exercise and stress reduction.
We begin with a complete nutritional exam including a dietary history, nutritional assessment and nutritional review of laboratory findings. Then we design a comprehensive, individualized nutritional protocol.
The typical protocol includes dietary recommendations, suggestions for oral supplements, lifestyle modifications, exercise and stress reduction, and on-going education and support. We also review current medications and supplements, looking for possible vitamin/herbal drug interaction and drug-nutrient depletion that may even result in the body’s loss of certain vital nutrients.
Patients who might be helped are those with allergies, headaches and migraines, intestinal disorders, multiple sclerosis, ADD/ADHD, autism, high blood pressure, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis and hormonal disorders.
Part of our goal is to educate as many people as possible on the importance of incorporating proper diet, lifestyle and supplementation as part of overall health.
